On Day 2, after breakfast, we embark on an adventurous jeep ride through winding mountain trails to Askole, the last inhabited village before the mighty Karakoram glaciers. This drive reveals dramatic mountain views and traditional stone and timber homes built into fertile terraces. The night is spent camping at Askole.

On Day 3, the trekking adventure begins. We leave Askole and trek for 5 to 6 hours along the roaring Braldu River, crossing wooden bridges and rocky pathways, until we reach Jhula, where we set up our first campsite.

On Day 4, we continue our trek from Jhula to Paiju, covering a similar distance of 5 to 6 hours. The trail passes through narrow valleys and rugged landscapes, with towering cliffs on either side. Paiju is famous for its panoramic mountain scenery and serves as our campsite for the night.

Day 5 is reserved for acclimatization at Paiju. You’ll rest, enjoy short hikes nearby, and get accustomed to the altitude while admiring breathtaking views of the Trango Towers and the Baltoro Glacier.

On Day 6, we start early and trek for about 6 to 7 hours along the Baltoro Glacier. After crossing several glacial streams and boulder fields, we reach Khoburtse, a scenic campsite offering incredible views of towering peaks such as Trango Tower and Uli Biaho

Day 7 involves a relatively shorter trek of 3 to 4 hours from Khoburtse to Urdukas. The trail crosses two glacier moraines and leads to a beautiful grassy slope, where we camp surrounded by lush meadows and dramatic mountain walls.

On Day 8, we resume trekking for about 6 to 7 hours from Urdukas to Goro II, walking on the icy surface of the Baltoro Glacier. Along the way, you’ll witness stunning views of Muztagh Tower, Mitre Peak, and Gasherbrum IV, making this one of the trek’s most visually rewarding days.

Day 9 takes us from Goro II to Concordia, a legendary destination for trekkers. It takes about 5 to 6 hours to reach this glacial junction, where over 39 snow-clad peaks rise above 6,500 meters, including K2, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum I and II. We set up camp at this magical spot.

On Day 10, after an early breakfast, we hike to K2 Base Camp, which stands at 5,100 meters. It takes around 4 hours to reach the base and about 3 hours to return. This strenuous day offers a chance to stand beneath the world’s second-highest mountain. We return to Concordia for the night, noting that the crossing of Gondogoro La depends on weather and rope-fixing arrangements.

On Day 11, we trek from Concordia to Ali Camp, crossing several side glaciers along the way.
After about 5 to 6 hours of walking, we reach the Vigne Glacier, which, depending on snow
conditions, offers a smoother path than walking along the rocky edge. We spend the night at Ali
Camp, preparing for the big pass crossing.

Day 12 begins very early, around 2 or 3 AM, as we start our ascent to the Gondogoro La Pass, which stands at 5,700 meters. The early departure ensures firmer snow and safer conditions. Reaching the top rewards us with stunning views of K2, Broad Peak, and the remarkable Laila Peak. After taking in the scenery, we descend carefully to Khuspang, where we camp for the night.

On Day 13, we leave Khuspang and trek to Saicho, which involves crossing moving boulders and ice fields. After a couple of hours, we arrive at Dalsangpa, meaning ‘field of flowers’, a campsite set between two tranquil lakes with striking reflections of Masherbrum and its glacier. We set up camp here for the night.

Day 14 marks the final day of trekking as we head towards Hushe village, walking alongside lateral moraines and crossing several side streams. The trek is a blend of stony paths, glacier edges, and peaceful valleys. After refreshments or lunch at a local hotel in Hushe, we drive back to Skardu, passing through beautiful valleys along the way, and settle into a hotel for a wellearned night’s rest.
